The Shadow People

The Shadow People

Hey guys! I wrote this poem on a sticky note I was using as a bookmark on my flight back from vacation this August. I decided to share it with you guys because I like it and it is kind of creepy so it fits in with the Halloween theme. Don’t forget to follow all my social medias, subscribe to my website, check back on Saturday for more Halloween articles, and don’t forget to sparkle! Also, if you illustrate this poem and tag @sparklenews on Instagram or @sparklenews_ on Twitter, I will add it to this post and give you a shout out!

Sneaking, creeping,

as I walk.

Cold and dark,

they never talk.

Steps so quiet,

you can barely hear.

Following you,

they fill me with fear.

But as the light

fades away,

The Shadow People

turn to gray.

But even so,

they are here to stay,

for they can never

go away.

My First Cup of Matcha Tea

My First Cup of Matcha Tea

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but I’m getting back in the grove. That being said, from now on I am going to be posting normal articles on Sparkle Saturdays and Wednesdays and then I am going to be starting a new page on my site sometime this week called ‘thought of the day’. Because of school work, I am not able to write as many full articles, but I will do my best to post a ‘thought of the day’ at least twice a week where I will journal a quick response to one of your questions for me or write a quick reflection on something I thought of on that given day. As always, don’t forget to follow my social medias to get all the news that sparkles and don’t forget to sparkle! Now, onto today’s post!

In late July, I received a package filled with a very generous donation of a full pack of Matcha tea single sips and a sample packet from The Republic of Tea  for a review.

The Republic of Tea Matcha Tea Sparkle News

So, I decided to try out one of the sample packets today. The first thing that I noticed was that the tea packets had instructions for a few different ways to prepare the tea: hot, cold, or as a hot matcha latte. Being me, I decided to make the matcha latte. It was very easy to prepare, all I had to do was make a cup of hot water and stir in the tea packet with a fork and then add milk. Also, the tea was a very pretty green color when prepared.

As for the taste, the Matcha tea tasted slightly like green tea only with a slightly more subtle taste. The milk also made it very creamy and nice. I would definitely recommend Matcha tea, especially The Republic of Tea’s Matcha tea, for people who drink green tea regularly or for those who like tea lattes. In addition to its taste, I read up on Matcha tea and found out that it has quite a few benefits as well. Not only is Matcha tea good for detox, but it also burns calories and boosts energy. Overall, I was really pleased with my first cup of Matcha tea. As for you guys, the full pack of Matcha single sips will be included in the much awaited giveaway that I will be doing soon.

Don’t forget to check back on Wednesday for a new fall related article and don’t forget to check my page ‘Thought of the Day’ which will be released soon! Don’t forget to sparkle!

Road Trip Blog Day Two

Road Trip Blog Day Two

Hi guys, I am so happy with all the extra traffic I have been getting on my website recently! As you may or may not know, I posted Day One of my road trip blog on Thursday so if you haven’t already, go check that out now. For those of you who have read it already, here is day two of my road trip blog! Enjoy and don’t forget to Sparkle! (and don’t forget to follow all of my social medias either)

Day 2: Colorado Springs, Colorado

The morning of the second day was pretty calm. We took our time to get ready and get things packed up before heading downstairs to eat breakfast.  I had received a map of Amarillo with all of the tourist attractions on it the night before and circled the ones I had already implemented in my road trip binder along with ones I thought were interesting so it was easy to know where we were headed. The first place we stopped was the RV museum. Unfortunately, when we got there we discovered that it was closed on Sundays. So, after that we headed off to the well known landmark Cadillac Ranch. For those of you who don’t know, Cadillac Ranch is ten vintage Cadillacs stuck in the ground in middle of a corn field off the side of a highway. As a man had told us on the way in, Cadillac Ranch is basically America’s Stone Hedge. We brought sharpies to sign the Cadillacs with, as is custom, just to find that they were soaking wet with spray paint. Luckily, there was a family who was leaving and giving away their spray cans. I signed the first Cadillac from the left twice and than my whole family signed one of the others. Honestly, the experience was so strangely satisfying. Especially considering there were so many people. People were coming and going CONSTANTLY.

After Cadillac Ranch, we headed back towards the center of town to explore the Route 66 Historic District. I have to say I was slightly disappointed with it because it was kind of sketchy and the image I had found on Route 66’s website didn’t turn out to be around the area. It was still really cool to see though. For our final thing to do in Amarillo, we went to the Palo Duro Canyon. Note that the pictures I took there aren’t nearly as good as the ones from before it because the camera I was using was dead and I needed to use my phone camera.

When I was planning the road trip I didn’t included Palo Duro canyon in the plans because I hadn’t seen it online, but I must say it was amazingly beautiful and I am so happy that we went. The best part was that we were able to go all the way down to the bottom of the canyon where there was a trading post. Also, in the gift shop there was a hallway made into a mini museum telling the history of the canyon and about the Native Americans that used to live there. I definitely recommend visiting it if you haven’t already. After Palo Duro canyon, we were on the road again. We passed through New Mexico on the way to Colorado and I got to see a lot of really cool rock structures and Pronghorn Antelopes. Because we spent so much time in the canyon, we got to Colorado Springs pretty late but the hotel was nice.

Thanks for reading guys! Road Trip Blog Day Three will be coming out on Tuesday so keep watch for that!

Quality vs. Price

Quality vs. Price

Hey guys! I know that I posted my road trip blog for day one already, and I promise that I’ll post day two on Friday, but I thought that this would be an interesting and informative article to break up the series with. We all know that feeling where you get a great deal… and then our purchased item breaks the next day. To avoid instances like this, we sometimes have to ask ourselves which is more important: quality or price? So, let’s ask ourselves this one important question. Also, don’t forget to follow all of my social medias and don’t forget to sparkle!

Personally, and I’m sure most of you would agree with me, quality matters a lot more to me than price. This is because of a few simple reasons. For one thing, with good quality products, even if they are slightly more pricey, you feel like you actually got your money’s worth. In addition, you feel more satisfied with your buy because even though you spent more than you would have hoped, you did get a great product. Think of it in the sense that a more expensive item will last longer saving you the price of needing to buy replacements that would be necessary if you bought a worse quality product. Of course I don’t always buy the more expensive item, we all like a good deal once in a while, but I find that higher quality items usually make me happier.  Also, yes of course there are cheap yet good quality items, but for the most part the higher the price the better the quality.

So, now that we have decided that quality is more important, a new question arises; what exactly makes a product good quality? The most important factor of a quality product is material. For instance, leather is a much higher quality material than many other options: especially when it comes to accessories including purses, bags, shoes, and jackets. Leather is very durable making leather items far less likely to rip and allowing them to stay nice for a very long time. Also, leather is water resistant, so if you’re clumsy like me you don’t have to worry about spilling water all over your new bag or jacket and wrecking it. You can simply look at leather or even smell it and realize that it is a great quality material. Plus, who doesn’t like the looks of leather? If you are interested in knowing more about leather and its benefits and why it is used for accessories, click here to check out an interesting post about it from Mahi Leather. Overall, it’s pretty clear that leather is a great material and that material is what dictates whether an item is high quality or not.

Basically, the point that I am trying to get at is that sometimes we need to overlook the price of an item and pay more attention to how long it will last and how well made it is. Even if it is a little more expensive, if it is a good item it will make you happy with your choice. Also, most importantly, remember that it is okay to treat yourself to something special every once in a while too.

Looking Back at 2016: Harambe, The Election, and More

Looking Back at 2016: Harambe, The Election, and More

So much has happened this year whether it be something that has impacted a few people or an event that has changed the lives of millions. Some of these events were good and others bad, but there is no doubt that they were abundant.

One of the best parts of this year for me was you: the 12,157 unique visitors who have continued to visit my website throughout the year. Just yesterday this number was significantly lower when I had checked. I am grateful to have you all as an audience and to have so many of you following my Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube channel as well. In addition to having 12,157 unique visitors, I have had 54,275 views this year so far. For the 2017 year, my goal is to gain at least 10,000 new visitors nearly doubling my current viewer amount. In addition, I promise to post more frequently (at least twice a week) so that you all have more content to read. Anyway, thank you all and, without further adieu, let’s look back at 2016.

Starting early on in the year, I think that we can all agree that the presidential election for the United States has been very notable. Wealthy businessman Donald Trump unexpectedly became very popular early on in the election making himself the Republican nominee. Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state, also gained popularity securing her spot as the Democratic nominee. The election was a rocky road and lasted nearly the whole year. The most awe-striking part being towards the end when it was made clear that Hillary Clinton would win and that Trump had little, if any, chance to beat her. In the end, when November 8th came around, Donald Trump ended up winning the country by a significant number amazing everyone. What makes this year’s election so much more notable than those of years past is probably the outrage and the controversy over it. Even more so, the number of people who weren’t supporting either candidate and disliked both.

In addition to the election, there were events such as the night club shooting and the riots in Dallas over police killings. Speaking of which; police shootings and police being shot were frequent events this year as well. Many questions arose due to these shootings concerning equality and different peoples’ rights.

On more of a positive note, there was also the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this year. Team USA did amazing ending the games with a grand total of 121 medals. Some of the best on our team being athletes such as Michael Phelps and Simone Biles. Also, there was the video that went viral of the US swim team singing together while carpooling to Rio.

In May of this year there was also the killing of Harambe. At the Cincinnati Zoo in May, Harambe the gorilla was shot after a child had fallen into his enclosure due to the carelessness of their parents. The controversy over Harambe’s death is mainly based on the fact that it was the child’s parents’ fault that they ended up in the enclosure, yet Harambe was punished with death for it. Although this was a large deal when it happened, Harambe became a well known meme to teens and other adolescents.

A few large trends this year was the new Pokémon GO app and the IPhone 7. Pokémon GO was released on July 6, 2016 and quickly became a big hit. According to expandedramblings.com, there has been a total of about 500 million Pokémon GO downloads thus far and that there are about 20 million users per day in the United States alone. Also this year the IPhone 7 was released in September. Being that Apple has such a large following the IPhone 7 was a fairly large hit. Of course, the Fitbit was another popular trend this year. People have constantly been wearing their Fitbits throughout the year and comparing steps with those around them.

Another group of instances that are particularly notable are the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones catching on fire. The phones’ batteries have become known for catching on fire and exploding this year. Along with this, there was also the issue with ‘killer clowns’ appearing around the United States causing people much worry. These clowns also hit the internet hard.

Finally, there were also he deaths of a few very popular celebrities this year. David Bowie, well known for his many hit songs including Starman, Space Oddity, and Under Pressure, died on January 10th this year from cancer at the age of 69. Similarly, the very popular Prince died on April 21 this year at only 57 years old. The former first lady Nancy Reagan also died on March 6 at the age of 94 from heart failure. And, of course, the boxing champion Muhammad Ali who died on June 3 at 74 years old.

2016 has been the year of victories and losses and the year of ups and downs. Through all of the issues we have learned to thrive and from all of the good things we have learned to love. Now all we have to do is hope for an even better year for 2017.

The Best Super Bowl Commercials of 2015

The Best Super Bowl Commercials of 2015

Here are THE 5 best super Bowl commercials of Super Bowl 49!

1. Budweiser “Best Buds” commercial-

This commercial was very sweet and over all my favorite commercial of Super Bowl 49! A dog is very close to it’s owner’s horses and it’s owner. It gets lost and can’t find it’s way home while it’s owner is posting “lost dog” posters everywhere. The puppy finds it’s way back, but a wolf threatens it and it is barking when the horses break free from their stables and protect the dog by scaring off the wolf. The commercial ends with the horses and the dog going running home and the owner there with them in the end. Here is a link to the commercial to view it on YouTube. (you can copy and paste i into the URL)

2. Avocados from mexico “The First Draft Ever” commercial-

This commercial was hilarious! In the commercial, countries are selecting animals/plants for “the first Draft” and when it gets to mexico, a polar bear wearing a sombrero is hoping they pick him, but they pick the avocado. This was so funny Below there is a link so that you can watch the commercial on YouTube.

3. Turbo Tax “Boston Tea Party” commercial-

This commercial was also very funny and an awesome commercial. In the commercial, the Boston Tea Party is taking place when the Brittish come out on a boat and ask “what if it was free to file your taxes?” one member of the Boston Tea Party gang says “well all right than!” and so war stops and they are all nice to each other and happy music plays, Over all this was so funny! Use the link below to see the commercial for yourself!

4. Doritos “Airplane” commercial-

This was definitely one of the most funny Super Bowl commercials! In the commercial, a man is on a plane and there is an empty seat next to him. There is an announcement that you can sit in any empty seat, so he acts very obnoxious so that no one will sit next to him except for when one woman comes then he acts all nice and takes out a bag of Doritos just to realize she has a baby with her. If you have not seen this commercial, the link is below.

5. Nation Wide “Invisible Mindy Kaling” commercial-

This was another super funny commercial! In the commercial, Mindy is treated like she is invisible so she decides that she is invisible, so she does crazy things like eating peoples food, taking a gallon of ice cream from a store and eating it, and going through a car wash. In the end she is going to kiss a random man in a restaurant when he notices her and she realizes that she has just always been treated like she was invisible, but she isn’t. There is a link to watch this commercial below.

2.) Another gift I think is awesome, but is simple, is D.I.Y rubber bands to use on the rainbow loom. I would generally say get the original(rainbow loom), but the thing is, D.I.Y has more creative and cool types and styles of rubber bands than rainbow loom. Above in the picture are three examples of special bands; colorful glow in the dark, scented ones, and glitter ones. Over all, I think these are a great gift! NOTE: you can also get packs with hooks and charms to make bracelets with, plus you can get them at your local craft store or at Target.
